Teaching our kids about God is one of the greatest responsibilities — and joys — we have as Christian parents. But it can feel overwhelming to know where to begin. Over the years I have leaned on a handful of resources that make discipleship at home doable in the middle of an ordinary, busy day. Here are my favorites, grouped the way I actually use them: tools for Bible study, tools for Bible memory, and tools for living it out.
For Bible study
These are the ones that get the Bible open and into kids’ hands.
- Exploring the Bible — a gentle Bible-reading journal that walks children through Scripture a little at a time, with simple prompts that keep them engaged instead of overwhelmed.
- Meeting with Jesus — a daily reading plan that points kids straight to Christ across both Testaments. A natural next step once they are comfortable with a reading rhythm.
- Investigating God’s Word… at Home — a full, gentle Bible curriculum. After flipping through both versions, I preferred the at-home study over the school edition for our family — it fit our days far better.
- Not Consumed Ministries — family Bible studies that are as much about character and the heart as they are about content. Wonderful for studying together as a family.
For Bible memory
Hiding God’s Word in their hearts is one of the most lasting gifts we can give, and these make it painless.
- My ABC Bible Verses — one verse per letter of the alphabet, with a short story for each. It turns memory work into a sweet daily read-aloud for little ones.
- Hide ‘Em in Your Heart — Scripture set to music. My kids learn verses without even trying because they cannot stop singing them. Music is the secret weapon of Bible memory.
For living it out
Knowledge is meant to become practice. These tools help faith move from the page into the family.
- A family prayer box — a simple way to gather and keep the things your family is praying for, so kids see prayers asked and answered over time.
- Persecuted-church prayer sheets — visual prayer pages that turn our prayer time outward, toward believers around the world. You can grab these free on my printables page.
- Visual Bible-verse packs — printable verse cards to post around the house, so Scripture is simply part of the scenery your kids grow up in.
