A West Virginia trial lawyer who spent sixteen years in the statehouse — rising to Speaker of the House — and has spent twenty years fighting for injured people against the insurance companies he once defended.

Tim Miley knows how the other side thinks — because he used to be on it.
After graduating from Duquesne University School of Law in 1991, Tim began his career defending large corporations and insurance companies. By 2001, troubled by the tactics insurers used to deny and delay legitimate claims, he made a decision that would define his career: he would represent only injured people. On June 1, 2006, he founded The Miley Legal Group in Clarksburg, West Virginia — today a 20-year personal-injury firm serving Clarksburg, Morgantown, and the surrounding region.
Tim didn’t stop at the courtroom. In 2004 he won a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates, where he chaired the Judiciary Committee and, in 2013, was elected the 53rd Speaker of the House. He later served as Minority Leader before choosing not to seek re-election in 2020 — sixteen consecutive years of public service. Along the way he authored four consumer-law books to help West Virginians understand their rights after an injury.
