But what really happens on Facebook (and soon with LinkedIn) is that the system notices you’re abusing the system to generate a flood of notifications.

It’s the equivalent of robo-dialing or tapping everyone in the room on the shoulder.

I’ve seen even people who I thought were smart on-line marketers do this– it’s as silly as “forward this to the next 10 people and Bill Gates will give you $100” or whatever.
