Some people escape to drugs, alcohol, TV, or lethargy.
My escape is work, a socially acceptable addiction, but unhealthy, nonetheless.
The silver lining is that the last 20 years of my life have been extremely productive.
And I consider how famous painters, musicians, authors, inventors, and entrepreneurs have channeled their pain into productivity.
Lemonade from lemons.
People wonder if I get tired of working or if working so hard will hurt me.
But the reality is I work to escape the pain- to hide from it instead of dealing with it. It’s not the work that’s hurting me.
Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?
Or failure is the best teacher.
Which makes me her a familiar student.
I believe anyone who is truly successful will admit to you they had a great deal of pain along the way, no matter how well they hide it.
Building muscle requires that you tear your muscle fibers to then regrow stronger.
Embrace your pain and your flaws, since you are wonderfully and fearfully made.
You are right where you need to be.
