Marko Sipila Started an Agency in High School and Built HVAC Quote by 21

I first connected with Marko Sipila when he was running Intricate Digital Marketing out of Scottsdale, Arizona.

He’d started the agency while still in high school. Not the “lemonade stand” kind of high school business that kids put on their college applications. An actual digital marketing agency serving home service contractors — building websites, running SEO campaigns, managing advertising for real businesses with real revenue.

By the time most people his age were finishing college, Marko had already scaled that agency to seven figures. And then he did something that surprised me — he sold it.

Selling His Agency to Build Something Bigger

In March 2022, Intricate Digital Marketing was acquired and merged into ServiceLegend, a SaaS platform for home service contractors. Marko came on as CMO and co-founder.

What happened next was the part that tested him.

ServiceLegend was carrying roughly $50,000 in credit card debt when Marko stepped in. Within two years, he’d helped grow monthly recurring revenue to over $320,000. That’s not a typo — from negative to $320K MRR in 24 months.

He eventually moved on from ServiceLegend in July 2023. But the experience gave him something more valuable than the revenue number: he understood how to build, scale, and exit a business before most people have their first job review.

Building HVAC Quote From Conference Conversations

After ServiceLegend, Marko launched CoatingLaunch to serve concrete coating contractors. But the bigger play was HVAC Quote.

The problem HVAC Quote solves is simple to describe and painful to live with: HVAC companies lose 97% of their website visitors. A homeowner lands on the site, doesn’t see a price, and bounces. They call the next company. The contractor never knew they existed.

HVAC Quote gives homeowners an instant, AI-powered price estimate. The contractor captures the lead. Conversion rates jump by over 45%.

I posted on Facebook when Marko hit 100 HVAC companies on the platform because I was genuinely proud. Not because the number was impressive — though it was — but because of how he got there.

He didn’t run paid acquisition campaigns. He walked the exhibit halls at HVAC industry conferences. He filmed one-minute interviews with industry leaders. He shot videos in front of competitor booths. He made content about other people, and those people shared it.

That’s the Content Factory working exactly as it should. HVAC Quote grew past 300 customers using that approach.

What I Wrote About Marko and Facebook Ads

I wrote an article called “Marko Sipila is Not a Facebook Ads Expert” — and the title was intentional.

Too many young people in digital marketing define themselves by a single platform. They’re “Facebook ads guys” or “Google Ads specialists.” That label has a shelf life. Platforms change. Algorithms shift. The skill that doesn’t expire is understanding business fundamentals — marketing, administration, production, and sales.

Marko gets this. When he talks about growing a home service company to seven figures, he breaks it down into those four areas. Not “run more Facebook ads.” Not “spend more on Google.” Master the four pillars and the channel-specific tactics take care of themselves.

That’s why he’s been able to move across verticals — from digital marketing agencies, to SaaS, to concrete coatings, to HVAC, to fencing. The underlying business system transfers.

Concrete Growth Summit 2024

Marko was invited to sit on the marketing panel at the Concrete Growth Summit in 2024. The topic was “AI, Digital Ads and Cross-Channel Dominance.”

He shared the stage with David Carroll, Yousef Okasesh, Kimberly Esparza, Taniela Fiefia, and Alex Sanchez. The panel ran nearly 40 minutes.

What stood out was that Marko wasn’t presenting theory. He was describing what he’d actually run in his own businesses and for his clients. When you’ve personally taken a company from debt to $320K MRR, you can answer audience questions differently than someone who read about it in a marketing textbook.

What’s Next for Marko

As of 2024, Marko co-founded FencingLaunch — expanding the same marketing model into the fencing contractor vertical. CoatingLaunch continues to serve concrete coating companies. HVAC Quote keeps growing.

The pattern is clear. Find a home service vertical with fragmented, small-business operators. Build a marketing and technology layer that helps them compete. Grow through authentic content and real relationships.

He’s 21, and he’s already done this across four verticals. I’ll keep writing about what he does next.
