Spend 80% of your time on the top 10% of the performers on your team-- to maximize your company's performance.
Who would disagree with this?
One of the biggest challenges I face is that I often find myself spending 80% of my time coaching the bottom 10% of our company– neglecting the people who are doing the best work.
While we all want to help everyone succeed, be sure you’re not inadvertently punishing your best people and rewarding the “squeaky wheels” who cause problems.
Your time is limited, and not everyone will respect that. Plus, you risk offending them or making them feel unimportant if you put limits on how far you’ll personally coach them.
But you can still help the under-performers by having training systems and team leads they can call on, so it doesn’t have to be you every time they have a question.
The more you can focus on building up your leaders, and aiding them with the process, the more you can focus on what truly matters to you, eliminate constant interruption, and scale up your business.
If you’re tired and feeling like you’re not getting much done, this might be the reason.
