I’m not proud of the fact that I’ve FIRED or lost 100+ people in my career.

It never gets easier– the pain is as much as the first time– even if they clearly deserved it.

But one thing I am proud of is that, through the years, our team has developed a de-boarding checklist.

This list (below) covers every single system or asset we need to account for, so the company can continue to operate smoothly.

Today a friend of mine called me desperately for help.

She didn’t properly de-board an employee.

And that person created havoc by kicking out other admins, while not responding to my friend’s messages.

Checklists are not bureaucracy— they are learnings systematized to help you prevent future pain and losses.

The beauty of checklists is that you can learn from your mistakes in advance instead of having to incur the pain yourself first.
