These were all super convenient perks I enjoyed when I worked at Yahoo.
I know we sourced food from local growers, brought in local businesses on campus to provide these benefits, and did all sorts of things to keep our people happy.
I think it’s overreach for the government to say companies can’t serve free lunches. Totally understood wanting to serve the local economy, but this measure will backfire since it’s a slippery slope. Companies will just move to other areas since they know that whoever treats their people the best will have the best employees who are happy, loyal, and productive.
And I do like to eat the free food at Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other Bay Area companies!
