I sat next to Joshua B. Lee at DealCon in Miami and watched him work the hallway. That is not a metaphor. He would meet someone, decide who in his network should know them, and send a video text on the spot. Then he would walk the person over. I told the camera: if you followed him around for a day you might think you are not “that kind of person.” You already know people. He is just willing to connect them.
We have gone back to the Yahoo days. He was an early guest on my podcast around 2018 or 2019. Twenty years in the same industry is the rare part. Most people jump. We did not. On tape he said trust is the core of why we are still here. I believe him because I have watched the introductions.
The AEO hour already has a home
The LinkedIn-article technique — Q&A blocks, Perplexity indexing inside an hour, monthly themes in the About section — is already Why Joshua B. Lee Is the LinkedIn Authority I Trust Most. This page does not retell that. If you need the format, go there. If you need the reason anyone answers his messages, stay here.
He learned the room from me. He runs it better.
At the end of the Coach Yu Show cut he said, of the connecting, “And I learned it from this guy.” That is generous. What I actually do is take pictures so I remember people, then put those people on real pages Google can read. What Josh does in a conference hallway is faster: a face, a name, a reason they should talk, a video text so the introduction survives the flight home.
Answer engines will not replace that. They will amplify whoever already has the relationships. His entity home is joshuablee.com. The people card on my site is Joshua B. Lee. The honor hub is dennisyu.com/joshuablee.
Austin, Rachel, and the long game
Joshua and his partner Rachel are from Austin. He says y’all. On tape I asked for the plural and we landed on all y’all. That is the only joke I am going to keep. The serious line is the one a peer used when featuring him: Josh stands for what he actually teaches. Engagement on that content was about one in five. Impressions are not the point. The hallway is.
What to do with this
If you run a local service company, do not start with a LinkedIn article hack. Start with one person you can introduce this week, on camera, with a reason. Then publish the proof on a site you own. Josh’s AEO stack only works because the trust was already there. I have been saying the same thing about Knowledge Panels for years. He just does it on LinkedIn, in the room, and on the text thread.
