Hey there! I’m Morris, the Australian Labradoodle therapy dog at Prout Funeral Home, and I’ve got quite the pawsitive impact on the community. From spreading joy to offering a comforting paw, I’m always busy making people’s days a little brighter. Let me take you through a few of my adventures and some of the important work I get to do!

The Comfort Duo: Morris and Julia Prout
As the fluff in the duo, I’m lucky to have Julia Prout, my amazing human companion, by my side. Together, we’re quite the pair – she’s the brains, and I’m the fluff! Whether we’re getting ready for an adventure or heading out to lend a paw, we make the perfect team.
Supporting Mental Health with the Girl Scouts
One of the highlights of my job is assisting the Girl Scouts at Forest Avenue School. Julia provides guidance, and I offer moral support, all while making sure everyone feels relaxed and comfortable. I’m always ready to lend a listening ear – or a paw, whichever they prefer!
Treats and Therapy
Like any dog, I’ve got a soft spot for delicious treats! During a recent session, I was eyeing some tasty snacks, hoping Julia would slip me a cookie when no one was looking. Therapy work sure builds up an appetite!
Meeting New Friends (And Treating Them Right!)
I even have some spooky friends – like the vampire dog statue! Don’t worry, though, I’m not one for biting unless there’s a treat involved. Gotta make sure no one feels left out, even if they’re made of stone.
Giving Back to the Community
Being part of the Verona Band Festival was a blast! Not only did I help hand out trophies, but I also got to soak in the music and joy that filled the air. Who knew I was such a talented music fan? I was also at a food drive hosted by the Verona Juniors, distributing smiles while supporting a fantastic cause for the local food pantry.
From Firefighters to Festivals
I recently had the honor of joining the Verona Fire Department to celebrate International Firefighters Day. It was inspiring to see so many people come together to honor those who keep our community safe. I’ve also been part of other fun community events, like the Fourth & Fifth Grade Spelling Bee and a visit to our local coffee shop, Jola Coffee, where I’ve perfected the art of ordering a puppuccino!
Down Time and Celebrations
Even therapy dogs need some rest – so you’ll often find me napping between sessions. But when I’m not napping, I’m out exploring! Recently, I met a giant patriotic eagle statue and kept a watchful eye alongside my new buddy. I’m also getting into the holiday spirit with fun events like International Firefighters Day, my two-year-old birthday celebration (which meant double the belly rubs!), and a pawsome Chanukah celebration with eight nights of tasty treats.
A Pawsitive Force
I may be a dog, but I’m not just about belly rubs and treats – I’m a pawsitive force for good in my community. Whether I’m helping kids at school, participating in local food drives, or spreading joy at the Spelling Bee, I’m here to spread love, comfort, and maybe even steal a few snacks along the way.
Some Extra Special Moments
I’ve also been part of some memorable holiday events like Christmas, where I rocked my reindeer antlers and Santa hat to spread festive cheer, and even Easter, where I was on the lookout for the best-hidden eggs (sorry bunny, I’ve got this). Plus, I recently had a “frank” encounter with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile – what a fun “bun-derful” experience!
From spreading joy to spreading pawsitive vibes, my work at Prout Funeral Home keeps me busy – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Morris, signing off (but only to catch some Z’s before my next adventure!). 🐾
