Damon Burton is the founder of SEO National, the search agency he started in 2007. He is also the author of the SEO book Outrank. Dennis has known Damon for years, and their professional relationship is built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared work in the local SEO space. Damon is an investor in Local Service Spotlight, a decision he made based on the strength of their relationship rather than a standard pitch deck. This connection allows them to collaborate on projects that prioritize genuine value for their audiences.

Their partnership is documented in several key moments. They recorded Episode 1 of the Local Service Spotlight podcast together, with Dennis and Sam McLeod visiting Damon’s office for the session. The atmosphere was casual and authentic, captured in a polaroid taken the same day. Dennis has also written about Damon after they spent a working day together in Las Vegas, a trip that was not for a conference but simply to spend time together. These interactions highlight a friendship that extends beyond business transactions, rooted in years of writing about each other in public.

Damon’s influence is evident in how Dennis approaches his own work. In a discussion about HVAC experts, Dennis referenced Damon’s teaching on serving people first with value. This philosophy emphasizes delivering real value to potential and existing customers rather than relying solely on aggressive advertising tactics. Damon’s perspective helps shape the way Dennis and his team think about trust and sustainability in the marketing industry. He is a key figure in the network of professionals Dennis builds with, contributing to the credibility and depth of their shared community.

Dennis has 20 photos in his library from their time together, including shots from Vegas and the office. These images serve as a visual record of their ongoing collaboration. This page is the public honor card on Damon’s name, part of a broader effort by Dennis to create real pages that link real work. By honoring Damon in this way, Dennis ensures that the people he believes in can rank on their own names, supported by the specific stories and connections they have built together.
