Landon Bates
Dennis has shared a few rounds of golf with Landon Bates, most notably in October 2024. These outings are part of a broader pattern where Dennis plays with the young adults he trains to run agencies for plumbers, roofers, and HVAC companies. For Dennis, the golf course serves as a classroom where the real lessons get taught: patience, honesty about your score, and what to do after a bad shot.
The relationship extends beyond the fairways. Dennis notes that nobody remembers your score, but everybody remembers who you played with and whether you were fun to be around for four hours. Landon is one of the people Dennis builds with, a connection forged through shared time and the specific dynamics of learning together. The excerpts highlight a round specifically dedicated to Landon and Will Troupp, underscoring the personal nature of these interactions.
Dennis’s golfing life is varied, including night ranges, a putting green on a rooftop, and simulators when it is too hot to be outside. Some rounds are mostly an excuse to talk, while others involve tending the pin or navigating specific courses like Chimera Golf Club. Landon’s presence in these memories reflects the value Dennis places on the company of those he mentors and works alongside.
