Dr. Karen Sutherland

Educator · Social media and strategic communication

Dr. Karen Sutherland is a Senior Lecturer in Public Relations at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She is the author of Strategic Social Media Management (Palgrave Macmillan) and Artificial Intelligence for Strategic Communication. Her work focuses on teaching students to actually use AI tools for real business outcomes, rather than just describing them theoretically.

Dennis and Karen have worked together for a decade. Their collaboration began in 2018, when her testimonial appeared in Dennis’s university program guide. In 2019, they ran a "Dollar-a-Day" campaign on her page, where a single boosted post reached 15,100 people and generated 2,100 engagements at a cost of four cents each. In July 2025, they shared a panel at the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum alongside executives from LinkedIn and TikTok.

The most recent chapter of their partnership took place on July 14, 2026, at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum in Khankendi, Azerbaijan. After Karen walked off the stage around 1pm, Dennis’s agent built a 15-page personal brand audit for her by dinner. This audit was scored on a 100-point rubric and included a corrected entity graph for her site, a ten-agent team she can install into Claude Cowork with one sentence, and an email listing the three decisions only she can make. Dennis sat next to her for most of the process, documenting the workflow to show how repeatable it is for any expert with real accomplishments and an under-told story.

Karen has also recognized Dennis’s contributions to the field. She called him a "highly knowledgeable" interviewee, included his work among leading digital marketers in her textbook, and named him among her communication heroes or mentors in an independent interview. One of the posts documenting their connection discloses their friendship.
