How FlipFlip built a near-$1M reselling community on Whop

Summary. FlipFlip is a paid reselling community run by Dylan, a former finance employee in Florida who flipped items on the side for $50,000 to $60,000 a year before quitting at 29. On Whop it has done nearly $1,000,000 in revenue since November 2022, with $10,000 a month attributed to 175 affiliate referrals. The affiliate line is the reason this story is here.

What FlipFlip was doing before Whop

Dylan had a 9-to-5 in finance and a side business flipping items that paid $50,000 to $60,000 a year. The community was the way to sell what he knew instead of only what he found. The write-up gives his first name and his state, nothing more.

Whop’s framing of the pitch: “Everyone wants a little extra cash on the side, and with Dylan’s tips and software tools, they too can make serious money reselling.”

What changed on Whop

The membership is a subscription on Whop with checkout, a storefront page and a dashboard that shows revenue and churn. Support runs through Whop around the clock, which matters for a solo operator.

The growth mechanism is affiliates. Members and creators get a referral link; Whop tracks the sale and pays the commission. The write-up attributes 175 referrals and $10,000 a month to that program. Nothing in it says Dylan runs ads.

The numbers

Whop reports nearly $1,000,000 in revenue since November 2022, 175 affiliate referrals and $10,000 a month from affiliates. It does not report the membership price, member count, churn rate or the affiliate commission percentage. The article is dated July 2023 and was modified in January 2026, so the near-million figure is roughly eight months of revenue at the time of writing.

What I would tell a community owner to copy

Turn on affiliates before you buy ads. A community’s best salespeople are the members already making money in it. FlipFlip’s $10,000 a month from 175 referrals is the kind of number an ad account rarely matches at that size.

Watch churn, not revenue. The dashboard shows both; a reselling group lives or dies on whether members keep finding profitable items. Publish named member results on one canonical page so the proof recruits the next member.

Measure the affiliate traffic separately from everything else. Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with the Whop checkout firing as a conversion event, so an affiliate sale and an organic sale are counted apart and you can pay the right people more.

Then put a dollar a day behind the member flip that already got comments, and let the winners run at $30 over 30 days.

Who this is not for

Whop is a checkout, subscription, affiliate, community and storefront layer; it does not find the inventory, list it or ship it. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. A reselling community is not an excluded category, and its fees are the base rate plus affiliate processing if you run the program through Whop.

If you were going to use Whop anyway

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge community and membership businesses for.
