How Media Metas went from manual onboarding to $100K a month on Whop

Summary. Media Metas is a video-editing community run by Musa Mustafa, who was 20 when Whop wrote him up and had previously edited for the creator Sneako. He replaced manual email onboarding with Whop subscriptions and a marketplace listing, and the write-up puts the business at $100,000 a month, seven figures a year. If you sell a skill you already have, the mechanism is the part to study, not the number.

What Media Metas was doing before Whop

Musa started the way most editors start: free work. He made videos for nothing to build a portfolio, and the portfolio brought clients.

When he turned the skill into a paid community, the plumbing was manual. A member paid through an individual payment link, then Musa sent an email invitation by hand. Every new member was a task. That works at ten members and breaks at a hundred.

What changed on Whop

Whop took over the three jobs Musa was doing by hand: charging the subscription, letting the member in, and delivering what they paid for. A member checks out once and is onboarded without anyone sending an email.

The second change was distribution. Media Metas listed on the Whop marketplace and built a landing page there. The write-up says the listing gave the business visibility and a new audience it did not have before. Whether that audience or his Instagram did more of the work, the article does not separate.

What the article documents on the content side is the Instagram curve: under 200 followers in June 2023 to more than 200,000. His own explanation is about effort, not tools: “You need to find your clients, hustle a little bit man. Your hustle can take you a lot further than any ability or talent can.”

The numbers

Whop reports $100,000 a month and seven figures annually. It reports the Instagram growth above. It does not report member count, price per member, churn, or what share of revenue is subscriptions versus editing work, so I will not estimate those.

The write-up is dated November 2023 and was modified in January 2026. Treat the figures as a snapshot from that period.

What I would tell a coach or consultant to copy

Do the free work in public, then charge for the system. Musa gave away edits to earn the right to charge for teaching editing. If you are a consultant, your equivalent is a real result for a real client, named, with numbers a stranger can check. That is what an Instagram account of 200,000 people is built on.

Kill the manual onboarding before it kills your weekends. If a human sends the welcome email, you have a job, not a business. Subscription checkout with automatic access is the minimum.

Measure the source of every member. Before you spend on a marketplace listing or on ads, put Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console in place so the checkout fires as a conversion event with the source attached. Musa cannot tell you whether Instagram or the marketplace brought the members; you should be able to.

Then build one canonical page for the skill you teach, in your own name, and put a Dollar-a-Day boost behind the one video that already got engagement on its own. Boost what is proven; do not boost the offer.

Who this is not for

Whop is a checkout, subscription, community and storefront layer. It does not edit the videos, run your client pipeline or replace a CRM. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. A community that sells editing does not need financing, but a consultant selling a $5,000 engagement should know the threshold exists.

If you were going to use Whop anyway

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge coaching and consulting businesses for.

This story is retold from Whop’s own write-up, How Sneako’s old editor makes 7 figures a year with Discord (2023-11-21, modified 2026-01-09), which you should read in full. I am a Whop partner and earn a share of Whop’s profit from businesses that sign up through my link. Whop did not pay for or review this article.
