How Brez Scales sells a $400K/month ads playbook on Whop

Summary. Brez Scales is a 20-year-old in Miami who dropped out of a digital marketing degree, started a paid-ads agency with a cracked iPhone and a TikTok account, and reached $400,000 a month in under a year, according to Whop’s write-up. On Whop he sells the playbook as a mentorship community with courses and digital products; the write-up says members have reached $25,000 a month. If you run an agency, the part to study is not the car, it is the pricing logic and the second product.

What Brez Scales was doing before Whop

The starting kit was a cracked iPhone, a cracked Canva subscription and a TikTok account. He had dropped out of a digital marketing degree and, in his words, had no safety net.

Whop’s write-up puts the timeline at a year and a half from dropout to agency founder, then under a year from founding to $400,000 a month. It does not name the agency or list its clients.

What changed on Whop

The agency runs on client retainers, not on Whop. What runs on Whop is the second product: a mentorship community with chat, courses and digital products that sells the same paid-ads playbook to people who want to run their own agency.

The community is where a client-services business turns into a scalable one. The write-up does not state the community’s price or member count, only that members have reached $25,000 a month.

The pricing logic that sells both the agency and the community is one sentence.

I make you more than you pay me.

The numbers

$400,000 a month at age 20. Under one year from founding to that figure. A year and a half from dropping out to founding the agency. Client brands scaled from five to six figures a month. Mentorship members reaching $25,000 a month.

All of these come from Whop’s write-up. It does not separate agency revenue from community revenue, and it does not publish margins, headcount, client count or ad spend under management.

What I would tell an agency owner to copy

Get proof before you sell a playbook. Scaling client brands from five to six figures a month is a claim. A named client, a screenshot of the ad account and a before-and-after number is proof. Scales is candid that the rented Lamborghini is a client-acquisition cost, not a trophy.

If a rented Lambo gets you a client that pays $10K/month, that’s ROI, not a flex.

Brez Scales

I would rather you spend that money on measurement. Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console on every client site, with conversion events that fire, so the six-figure claim is a report and not a story.

One canonical case-study page per client, on your own domain. Then a Dollar-a-Day boost behind the TikTok that already gets comments, pointed at that page. That is how the community fills without a rented car.

Only then productize. A mentorship community sells when you have ten clients with results; before that it is a course about a business you have not built.

Who this is not for

Whop is a checkout, financing, affiliate and storefront layer. It does not run client ads, build reports or replace your project management, so keep those tools. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, but the optional layers (managed tax 2%, orchestration 0.8%, billing 0.5%) can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. If your agency has three clients and no case studies, you are not ready to sell a community about it.

If you were going to use Whop anyway

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge agency businesses for.
