How Astro Alerts runs a 1,400-member community on Whop

Summary. Astro Alerts is a reselling-alerts community run by Jimit, who was 19 when Whop wrote him up, three years into the business, with more than 1,400 members and more than EUR 35,000 in monthly revenue. He moved to Whop from platforms he describes as high-fee and slow to support. If you run a paid group of any kind, the switching story is the useful part.

What Astro Alerts was doing before Whop

Jimit started reselling in Europe as a teenager and turned the information he was using, where to find products and when, into a paid alerts community. The write-up does not name his country.

The community ran on other platforms first. His complaint about them is short: high fees and slow support. When you are 19 and the platform is your whole business, support response time is an operational risk.

What changed on Whop

Membership billing moved to Whop subscriptions with checkout, and the community got a listing on the Whop marketplace. Reviews are tracked on the listing, which matters for a product whose entire pitch is trust.

His verdict on the switch: “It’s much easier, with less fees, and makes it easier for you to grow.” And on running it with a team: “Whop is easy to manage for myself and the admins.”

Note what he does not say. There is no claim that Whop brought the members. The growth engine is not described in the write-up, so I will not guess at it.

The numbers

Whop reports more than 1,400 community members and more than EUR 35,000 in monthly revenue after three years in business. It does not report the subscription price, churn or the fee difference in euros. The article is dated May 2023 and was modified in January 2026, so the figures are a 2023 snapshot.

What I would tell a community owner to copy

Price the switch in numbers, not feelings. Take last month’s volume, apply your current platform’s fee, then apply 2.7% plus 30 cents per transaction. If the difference is less than the cost of migrating your members, stay. Jimit says the fees were lower; you should be able to say by how much.

Put reviews where buyers see them. A reselling group sells trust, and 1,400 members is only proof if strangers can read what they say. Review tracking on the listing is the cheapest social proof there is.

Measure the source of every member before you spend on growth. Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager on your landing page, with the checkout firing as a conversion event, will tell you whether the marketplace, TikTok or word of mouth is doing the work.

Turn on built-in affiliates. Members who bring members are the growth engine every community on Whop eventually uses, and the payouts are automatic.

Then boost the member win that already got comments, a dollar a day for seven days, and kill everything that does not move.

Who this is not for

Whop is a checkout, subscription, community and storefront layer; it does not source the deals or monitor the retailers, and it will not moderate your Discord for you. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. A reselling-alerts group is not an excluded category, but a group that drifts into betting or trading signals is.

If you were going to use Whop anyway

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge community and membership businesses for.
