Summary. GFNF is a paid community run by a founder named Vince that reached more than $113,000 in monthly recurring revenue, $1.3 million a year, by running membership tiers, one-click checkout with Apple Pay, and Discord access on Whop instead of hiring a developer to build and maintain it. If you are paying a developer to keep a members-only door working, this is the comparison to run.
What GFNF was doing before Whop
The write-up does not say what GFNF sells inside the community, and it does not give a location, so neither will I. What it describes is the operations problem: managing memberships by hand, or paying a developer to keep custom membership code running.
Vince puts the alternative bluntly. “I would have had a developer doing stuff constantly. Now I don’t worry about it.”
What changed on Whop
Membership became tiers on Whop. A buyer picks a tier, pays with one click or Apple Pay, and is placed in the right Discord role without a human touching it. The landing page was built with Whop’s no-code builder, and members get alerts on their phones.
The conversion effect is the part worth reading twice. Vince estimates that the manual path would have converted at roughly 15% of what the business converts now, which the write-up frames as about 85% higher conversion on Whop than the alternative. It is his estimate, not a controlled test, and I am quoting it as such.
On the day-to-day: “Managing someone’s membership is so easy.”
The numbers
Whop reports more than $113,000 in MRR and $1.3 million in ARR. It reports the conversion estimate above. It does not report member count, tier prices, churn or ad spend. The article is dated May 2023 and was modified in January 2026, so treat the figures as a 2023 snapshot.
What I would tell a community owner to copy
Price the developer honestly. A part-time developer maintaining membership code costs more per year than 2.7% plus 30 cents on $1.3 million of volume, and the code breaks on weekends. Run that math with your own numbers before you build anything custom.
Remove every click between “yes” and “in.” One-click checkout and Apple Pay exist because each extra field loses buyers. If your join flow has a form, a payment page and a manual Discord invite, you are leaking the members you already convinced.
Measure the join funnel before you spend on growth. Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager on the landing page, with the checkout firing as a conversion event, turn “85% higher” from an estimate into a measurement.
Get proof you can publish. GFNF gives us revenue and no member results. Your community should have named members with checkable outcomes on one canonical page. Then put a dollar a day behind the member story that already got engagement.
Turn on built-in affiliates once the funnel measures clean; members recruiting members is how communities on Whop compound.
Who this is not for
Whop is a checkout, subscription, community and storefront layer; it is not a Discord bot builder or a CRM, and it will not write your content. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. A subscription community is priced on the base rate plus billing if you use it; financing does not apply at these price points.
If you were going to use Whop anyway
If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge community and membership businesses for.
