I talk to one agent. The rest of them talk to each other. That agent is the Grok Bot coordinator: a named teammate with persistent desks. Cursor is the workshop I walk into for homework, not a second personality. Mail, follow-ups, and busywork never wait for me to open Gmail. Human texts still come to my phone, and I answer those myself.

Cursor, on the laptop, in the company runtime folder. Git, effort dial, local tools. Homework lives here. Mail does not — Tanner routes Gmail. I do not watch them work.

How a day actually runs
Wake, first ten minutes
Open Messages for people who texted me as a person. Open Grok Bot for three yes/no items. Do not open Gmail. Do not expect last night’s Cursor laptop chat to be sitting in the Cursor iPhone app.
Uber, laptop on my knees
Wispr Flow into Grok Bot if it is a decision or a dump for a named desk. Wispr into Cursor only when the next sentence is homework: build this, fix this repo, commit, use local tools. Eight minutes. Then the laptop closes.
Airport and plane
Talk to Grok Bot. I dump. I do not sort mail at 30,000 feet. I open Cursor iOS only if I am starting a new cloud job on a repo, not to continue a laptop chat.
Golf, dinner, walking
Phone in the pocket. I answer human texts myself. An agent may ping me only for money at risk, a client leaving, a live security issue, or a deadline inside 24 hours that only I can meet.
Evening at a desk
I ask the Grok Bot coordinator what needs my yes. If the answer is homework, I open Cursor. I peek Dennis Attention only if that answer says the pile is fat. I still do not live in Inbox.
Why Cursor on my phone says no matching agents
That screen is telling the truth. Cursor for iOS lists Cloud Agents and Remote Control sessions. It does not list the Agent chats from the desktop editor. Same account does not copy this laptop thread to the phone. “No matching agents” on the company runtime repo means nobody has started a cloud agent on that repo yet. It does not mean I am logged into the wrong account.
To put a Cursor job on the phone I have to start one: tap New on that repo, or on the laptop open the Agents Window and run Move to Cloud or /remote-control with the computer left awake. That new job is a contractor on a clone of the repo. It is not Meter Maid. It does not bring this Mac’s Gmail tools with it unless I set that up on the cloud side.
If I want to talk to a particular person, I use a named Grok Bot desk. Cursor is a shop floor, not a roster of teammates.
How work comes to me so I only answer
I should not have to hunt. Tanner — the Grok Bot EA desk — is the sole Gmail inbox router: skip, farm, or label it Dennis Attention. 24×7 every 30 minutes, quiet when empty. That method is how I manage 1,000 emails a day. Follow-ups that used to be the Gmail Boomerang plugin are an Awaiting Reply label plus a two-business-day chase the agents own. Cursor and Codex farm homework; they do not poll my inbox. What should reach my eyes is a short list of yes/no items in Grok Bot, not a 250-thread Inbox.
Push on the phone is Grok Bot, or a Cursor cloud agent I actually started. If I am truly unreachable, an interrupt iMessage is allowed for the four emergencies above. Ordinary mail never earns a text.
Texts, iMessage, and whether Cursor can see them
When I am on my phone, I should read my own texts. Those are human conversations. An agent that “handles all my iMessages” is how I start sounding like a bot to Nathaniel, my family, and a client who just asked if I landed.
Cursor on the Mac can read the local Messages database when a job needs it. We already do that for a named 1:1, with a receipt. Cursor iOS cannot browse Messages on the phone. Codex on the Mac can install ChatGPT’s Apple Messages plugin and search the same chats. That plugin runs only inside Codex or ChatGPT Work on an Apple Silicon Mac. It does not let me talk to ChatGPT through the Messages app. It does not work in the ChatGPT iPhone app. It is a sensor, not a mouth.
Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn, and the one-interface dream
One window that already sees Gmail, iMessage, Facebook, and LinkedIn would be the cleanest life. That product is not in this stack. The honest version is one mouth plus sensors. Gmail is sensed by Tanner alone. iMessage and WhatsApp can be sensed on the Mac. Facebook and LinkedIn DMs have no first-class agent inbox here — agents can help prune, mute, or route when that work is real, but the friend-cap judgment stays mine (see hitting 5,000 Facebook friends). I check those apps myself the same way I check texts, or I forward a thread into email so the mail router can see it. I do not paste the same DM into three model chats.
Grok Bot is the person. Cursor is the shop.
Named desks work. IT Support, Website Builder, Executive Assistant, Meter Maid: those are teammates I open on purpose. I do not abandon them because Cursor exists. Cursor is only the shop floor for homework.
I still never open Gmail. Tanner already ran the cafeteria. I talk to the coordinator or Executive Assistant about the Dennis Attention pile: what needs my yes, draft this, chase that. That conversation is efficient. A second sweep from Cursor, Codex, Hermes, or another Grok routine is not — Q paused the competing weekday inbox sweep so there is only one hall monitor.
FAQ
Should I live in ChatGPT because it has an iMessage plugin?
No. That plugin reads Mac Messages for Codex. It is not a remote project manager, and using it as one would split the mouth.
Do I still need Gmail?
Only as a rare peek at Dennis Attention when the coordinator says the pile is fat. The cop’s job is that I do not need the tab.
Does this work on my phone?
Grok Bot does. Cursor for iOS does only after I start a cloud agent, and that is a repo job, not last night’s laptop chat. Wispr Flow on iPhone is clunky, so I save real dictation for the laptop in the Uber.
What if Grok Bot is down?
Tanner stays the mail router on the 24×7 every-30-minute cadence. I open Cursor on the laptop for homework. I do not invent a third mail cop.
