Summary. Fitted is a social resale app founded by Reid Moncada with 700,000 users, 30% in the United States and 70% elsewhere, that embeds Whop‘s chat, marketplace, checkout and payouts so buying and selling clothes happens inside a conversation. Moncada’s earlier ventures ran from a dorm laundry service to a 2021 NFT project that did $18.5 million in sales. If you are building a marketplace and thinking about writing your own chat, read this first.
What Fitted was doing before Whop
The founder’s path is long: a laundry pickup service in the dorms at Penn State, closet organization, crypto and NFT projects including one with Justin Bieber that did $18.5 million in 2021, then Fitted. The write-up does not say where the company is based.
The insight behind Fitted is about the incumbents. “I don’t know anybody that just goes on Depop just to see who’s around or see what people are wearing. It’s more of just like an intention.” Resale apps are transactional; nobody hangs out there.
What changed on Whop
Fitted embedded Whop’s chat inside the app rather than building one: reactions, markdown, attachments, moderation, cooldowns, banned words and deep links, out of the box. The marketplace, checkout and payouts are Whop’s too, so a conversation about a jacket ends in a sale and the seller gets paid without leaving the thread.
There is also a token. “Think Duolingo for your closet. With this currency, you can get discounts on clothes, you can sell your clothes in it, you can get paid out in it.” $FITTED runs on Solana. I am reporting it, not recommending it.
The numbers
Whop reports 700,000 users, 30% in the US and 70% global, and the $18.5 million from the prior NFT project. It does not report Fitted’s gross merchandise volume, revenue or retention. The article cites industry figures, 58% of US shoppers buying after seeing a product on social, 59% shopping secondhand apparel in 2025, and 53% higher retention for brands with active communities; those are the market, not Fitted.
What I would tell a marketplace founder to copy
Do not build chat. Moderation, cooldowns and banned words are a year of work and a permanent trust-and-safety cost. Fitted rented them and spent the year on the product.
Close the sale where the conversation is. Every redirect to a checkout page is a place the buyer cools off. Embedded checkout and payouts keep the transaction in the thread.
Measure the social loop. Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager, or your event pipeline, with a conversion event for “listing sold from a chat thread” separate from “listing sold from search.” If the social side does not convert better, the thesis is wrong and you should know early.
Then put named proof on one canonical page, sellers with what they sold and what they earned, and a dollar a day behind the closet video that already got comments.
Who this is not for
Whop supplies chat, marketplace, checkout, payout and community components you embed; it does not build the app, run the recommendation feed or handle shipping and returns. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. Token features carry their own regulatory and platform risks that no fee table covers.
If you were going to use Whop anyway
If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge software businesses for.
