How an early Whop seller built Hidden Studios and sold it to Whop

Summary. Hidden Studios is an in-game advertising company for Fortnite minigames founded by Nicholas Motamedi, who started as an early Whop seller with CryptoClub, a community that peaked at $150,000 a month. Hidden Studios reached roughly $20 million in annual revenue and 15 to 20 million monthly active users, and Whop acquired it in 2026 to power its ads division. This is less a how-to than a signal about where Whop Ads comes from and who runs it.

What Hidden Studios was doing before Whop

Motamedi was on Whop before most people had heard of it. CryptoClub, his community, ran on the platform and peaked at $150,000 a month according to the write-up. His location is not stated.

He then built something unrelated to communities: a portfolio of Fortnite minigames and an advertising platform that places brands inside them. That business raised a $10.5 million round the write-up says was previously unannounced.

What changed on Whop

Whop bought the company. Hidden Studios’ team and technology now power Whop Ads, and Motamedi leads the ads division. Sellers who turn on Whop Ads are using infrastructure that was built to serve 15 to 20 million monthly players.

His framing of why: “After meeting the Whop team, it was clear that our team’s foundation combined with Whop’s infrastructure would change the way entrepreneurs around the world grow their businesses.” And on the scope: “We’re excited to bring what we built for gaming to a platform where the stakes are magnitudes greater.”

The numbers

Whop reports CryptoClub at $150,000 a month at peak, Hidden Studios at about $20 million in annual revenue at peak with 15 to 20 million monthly active users, and a $10.5 million funding round. The acquisition price is not disclosed. No Whop Ads performance figures are published in the write-up.

What I would tell a software founder to copy

Notice the sequence. A community that made money funded the founder’s second company, and the second company was worth acquiring. If you run a profitable community on Whop, it is a cash flow, not a ceiling.

Treat Whop Ads as a vendor, not a favor. Its team came from a business that sold ads at scale; that is a reason to test it and a reason to measure it. Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager with a conversion event on your checkout, before the first dollar of ad spend, so you know your cost per sale on Whop Ads versus Meta versus Google.

Get proof before you buy attention. Ads amplify what already works. Put your named customers and real numbers on one canonical page, then put a dollar a day behind the clip that got engagement on its own. Only then move budget into any ad platform, Whop’s included.

Who this is not for

Whop is a checkout, ads, community and storefront layer. Whop Ads is an ad network inside that layer, not a replacement for search or social advertising, and the write-up gives no results to compare. The base rate is 2.7% + 30¢, 20 basis points under Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, and the optional layers, managed tax at 2%, orchestration at 0.8% and billing at 0.5%, can push the stack above Stripe. Financing requires $30,000 processed from 10 or more customers in 90 days and a dispute rate under 2%, and it is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult categories. If you cannot measure a conversion, no ad platform is for you yet.

If you were going to use Whop anyway

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. That is the work we normally charge software businesses for.
