Whop Affiliate Program: What It Pays and Why I Became a Partner

Summary. “Whop affiliate” means two different programs. The first is the Whop affiliate program: you promote a product sold on Whop with a referral link and earn a commission on each sale, 30% by default, set by the seller, paid after a 30-day waiting period. The second is Whop Partners, launched August 19, 2026: you refer a business to the Whop platform and earn up to 30% of Whop’s gross profit on that business for as long as it stays, plus 1% of its Whop Ads spend, plus a smaller share on businesses referred by partners you enroll. I was approved as a Whop partner on September 4, 2026. This page explains both programs with the numbers Whop publishes, what I expect to earn and why, how to join under me, and what my team does for anyone who does.

How the Whop affiliate program works

Every seller on Whop can switch on an affiliate program for their products. The default commission is 30%, and the seller can change it to any percentage, set a different rate for a specific affiliate as a percentage or a fixed amount, and choose whether it pays once or on every recurring payment.

As an affiliate, you browse the affiliate marketplace in your Whop dashboard, pick a product, click become affiliate, and get a link. When someone buys through it, Whop records the sale and holds the commission for 30 days. If the buyer refunds, disputes the charge or trips fraud detection, the commission is forfeited. Whop’s documentation does not publish the attribution window, so I will not claim one; ask the seller how their program is set.

The businesses in my story library show what this looks like from the seller’s side. Resell University pays its outbound sales staff as affiliates, with more than 30 of them. FlipFlip attributes $10,000 a month to 175 affiliate referrals. Cajun Koi Academy turned affiliates on to sell a course catalog at $14,000 a month in recurring revenue. If you are the affiliate, those are the kinds of programs you are joining.

How Whop Partners works

Whop Partners is the program I joined. You apply at whop.com/partners, and once approved you get a link in the form whop.com/start/?a=yourname and a manual referral form: business name, website, an estimate of its revenue and the owner’s email. Whop emails the owner an invitation to claim the business, and the attribution is locked to you when they do.

Whop pays partners from four income sources on the referred business: its profit on sales processing, the business’s ad spend on Whop Ads, balance transfers and card interchange. The headline rate is up to 30% of Whop’s gross profit, recurring for as long as the business is on the platform, plus 1% of Whop Ads spend, plus a smaller share on businesses referred by partners you enroll. Whop said at launch that partners had already earned more than $10 million.

What the dashboard showed me on the day I was approved is worth stating plainly: a leaderboard of the top ten partners by earnings in the last 30 days, ranging from $27,500 at tenth place to $65,600 at first, and my own row at $0. Those are real partners earning real money; they are also the top ten of a program with a long tail, and I have no visibility into the median.

What 30% of gross profit means in dollars

This is the part most affiliate pages skip. Whop charges a merchant 2.7% + 30¢ per card transaction, and most of that goes to the card networks and banks. Whop’s gross profit on plain processing is a fraction of a percent of volume. My working assumption, which Whop has not confirmed, is about 0.6% of processed volume.

On that assumption a plumber doing $1 million a year through Whop is worth about $6,000 a year in gross profit to Whop and about $1,800 a year to the partner who referred him. Real money, and not a reason to quit anything. The number changes when the business uses more of the platform: financing, affiliates, Whop Ads, memberships and courses all carry higher margin than raw processing. And it changes completely when the referral is not a business but a system, a platform, franchise or software product with hundreds of merchants on it, each of which becomes a referred business.

That is why I care more about platform owners than about any single contractor, and why the second tier matters. A partner I enroll who brings fifty businesses pays me a smaller share on all fifty without my touching a single one of them.

What Whop support confirmed in writing (Sept 4, 2026)

I asked Whop support eight attribution questions the day I was approved and got a written answer within minutes. Three things are now settled, checked against my own live account: the manual “Refer a business” form locks attribution to you the moment you submit it, before the owner claims the invite; the second tier is a flat 10% of Whop’s gross profit on businesses referred by any partner who was referred by you at any point, no special link required; and my own referral record reads active, 30% on sales, 30% on transfers, 30% on card interchange, 1% on ad spend, expiring 50 years out. Three things are still undocumented, by Whop’s own admission: first-click versus last-click on the partner link, the window, and what happens when two partners touch the same owner. Whop’s public Earnings Terms also still carry a six-month clause for seller referrals that support says has not caught up with Partners. Until that is in writing, every business I have already spoken to goes in through the form, not the link.

Why I joined, and what HighLevel taught me

I watched HighLevel grow into the dominant agency platform on the back of its affiliate program, which pays 40% recurring on direct referrals and 5% on a second tier to approved affiliates. I recommended the product to hundreds of agencies over the years and was never in the program early, which means I built someone else’s compounding line for free. I am not doing that twice.

Whop Partners is the same shape, earlier. The program launched in August 2026. The platform runs about $4 billion a year in commerce for roughly 22 million users, has paid out more than $3 billion to people in 144 countries, and is valued at $1.6 billion after Tether’s $200 million investment in February 2026. The category it is moving into, service businesses that need financing at the estimate, is the category I have spent a decade in. And the person running that category, Aden Trano, is a friend who told me on a golf course that financing is the biggest piece for contractors, and then invited me to Brooklyn to see how it works.

So the plan is not to spray a link. It is to move my own billing to Whop first, retell every customer story Whop has published from my point of view so a tree service or a dog trainer can find the one that matches them, build the industry pages that connect them, and put the partner link at the bottom of each one. That library is live: 52 stories across 14 industry pages, starting at my main Whop page.

How to become a Whop affiliate or partner under me

  1. Create your Whop account through dennisyu.com/go/whop. That records the attribution.
  2. If you want to promote products, open Resources, then Affiliates, in your dashboard and pick programs from the marketplace. If you want to refer businesses, apply to Whop Partners from the Partners tab.
  3. Send me your business name and the email on the account. I confirm the attribution on my side and start your personal brand analysis.

Whop’s launch post says a partner earns a smaller share on businesses referred by partners they enroll; it does not publish the percentage, and I will update this page when it does. You lose nothing by signing up under someone: your own rates are identical either way.

What you get if you sign up through me

If you were going to sign up for Whop anyway, sign up through my link, dennisyu.com/go/whop, or send me your business name and email and I will submit the referral. Whop pays me a share of its profit on your account; your rate is the same 2.7% + 30¢ either way. In return my team at Local Service Spotlight sets up the AI agents that audit your public reputation, fix what they find, and keep it maintained: a personal brand analysis, Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Search Console with conversion events that actually fire, a Content Factory that turns one recording into a definitive article, clips and posts, and a weekly Metrics, Analysis, Action report. For affiliates and partners specifically, you also get the story library above to link to, a canonical page under your own name that the clips point at, and the systems approach I use: go after the platforms and organizations that already hold many merchants, not one merchant at a time. That is the work we normally charge for.

What to know before you start

Disclose. In the United States the FTC requires a clear statement when you earn from a link; mine is on every page in this library. Do not self-refer without a ruling; I referred my own company on day one, saw “invite pending” in the dashboard, and flagged it to Whop rather than assume it counts. Read the excluded categories: financing is unavailable to gambling, sports betting, trading signals, credit offers and adult businesses, and I do not write about those communities at all. Expect the 30-day waiting period on affiliate commissions and expect refunds to claw them back. And do not lead with “cheaper than Stripe”: the base rate is 20 basis points lower, and the optional layers can push the stack above Stripe, so sell the mechanism, financing, affiliates, embedded checkout, not the rate.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Whop affiliate program free to join? Yes. Both programs are free. You need a Whop account; the affiliate marketplace is under Resources, then Affiliates, in your dashboard, and Whop Partners has its own application at whop.com/partners.

What is the default Whop affiliate commission? 30% of the purchase by default, set by the seller, who can raise or lower it and set a different rate for a specific affiliate, as a percentage or a fixed amount, one-time or recurring.

How long until a Whop affiliate is paid? Whop’s documentation states a 30-day waiting period between the referred purchase and the commission. A refund, dispute or fraud flag forfeits it.

What is the difference between a Whop affiliate and a Whop partner? An affiliate refers buyers to a specific product and earns a share of that sale. A partner refers a business to the Whop platform and earns a share of Whop’s gross profit on everything that business does, for as long as it stays, plus 1% of its Whop Ads spend and a smaller share on businesses referred by partners it enrolls.

Can I refer my own business to Whop Partners? Ask Whop before you do. Most partner programs prohibit self-referral, and I have flagged my own business’s referral to Whop for a ruling rather than assume it counts.

How do I become a Whop affiliate or partner under Dennis Yu? Create your Whop account through dennisyu.com/go/whop, then apply to Whop Partners from the Partners tab in your dashboard, or become an affiliate for any product from the affiliate marketplace. Send me your business name and email and I will make sure the attribution is recorded and start the personal brand analysis.

Sources and disclosure

I am a Whop partner and earn a share of Whop’s profit from businesses that sign up through my link, and I may earn a smaller share on partners who enroll under me. Whop did not pay for or review this article. The 0.6% gross-profit assumption is mine, not Whop’s.
